Start with the butts, then the tightest seam on the boat, as the caulking will tend to open it by moving the plank over into the adjacent, uncaulked seam's space. do the largest seam last. then the stem and garboard. be careful not to pound the iron into the wood or caulk so tight it breaks off the inside edge of the plank..
